Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Iconic Releases
Much like the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow
The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut around the time of the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
